Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 20 June 2021: Healthcare and trade professionals representing more than 150 countries will arrive in Dubai tomorrow (Monday 21) for the opening of Arab Health and Medlab Middle East, the largest exhibitions for the healthcare and laboratory industries in the MENA region.

 Medlab Middle East to address blood donation challenges in the wake of COVID-19

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 15 June 2021: According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) latest statistics, approximately 118 million blood donations are collected globally every year. However, according to research, COVID-19 has impacted donations throughout 2020.

The Lancet, the peer-reviewed general medical journal, reported that the COVID-19 pandemic had significant implications for blood transfusion due to reduced donations. However, this was largely matched by reductions in demand for transfusions and supported by implementing contingency planning with prioritization policies put in place in the event of shortages.

Medlab Middle East to address increased demand for COVID-19 testing

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 5 May 2021: Medlab Middle East, the MENA region’s largest medical laboratory exhibition and congress, in partnership with leading research firm Frost & Sullivan, has revealed the global in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) market grew by 14% in 2020 to US$85.9 billion, up from US$ 75.2 billion the previous year, as a result of meeting the demand for COVID-19 testing.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 24 March 2021: Medlab Middle East, the MENA region’s largest medical laboratory exhibition and congress, will now take place from 21-24 June 2021 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Coinciding with Arab Health, the co-located event is set to bring the global healthcare community together under the show theme of ‘United by Business’. A host of countries have already confirmed their participation at Medlab Middle East and include the UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Israel, Korea, Poland, Spain and the US.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 10 March 2021: Arab Health and Medlab Middle East, the largest exhibitions for the healthcare and laboratory industry in the MENA region, generated more than AED 3.7 billion worth of business during the 2020 edition of the show, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%. The exhibitions also contributed over AED 756 million to the Dubai economy through direct and indirect spending from visitors and exhibitors.

Furthermore, according to recent research by Informa Markets, 85% of healthcare and laboratory key visitors surveyed stated they would like to attend live events again.

The new event format will focus on facilitating business and networking opportunities by making it easier for participants to connect both in-person and online. The live Arab Health event will take place from 21-24 June 2021 with Medlab Middle East taking place from 28 June – 1 July, both at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

With the World Health Organisation (WHO), revealing over 117 million blood donations are collected globally every year, Medlab Middle East will launch its inaugural Blood Donation Drive, in partnership with Dubai Health Authority (DHA), as part of its responsible commitment to the safe and effective blood collection in the region.

Ahead of the upcoming Medlab Middle East, the MENA region’s largest medical laboratory event, experts are highlighting the need for more advanced clinical research to aid the early recognition and prevention of inherited metabolic disorders in the Arab world.
