At Medlab Middle East, Beckman Coulter will be showcasing a range of innovative core laboratory equipment throughout its smart booth. The company is also actively participating in the scientific focus days of the different business platforms.

In an interview with Medlab Middle East, Akram Azmy, Vice President Commercial Operation, Beckman Coulter Diagnostic, said: “Attendees of Medlab in its new format will have the opportunity to benefit from the valuable focused scientific days that discuss various experiences from all over the globe. Visitors will have the chance to navigate the smart exhibition stands and witness the new technology particularly in the area of automation and informatics.”

Beckman Coulter witnessed a challenging year as COVID-19 cases were on the rise in most of the Middle East and African countries. “However, we are very proud that our teams continue to serve our customers without interruption through these difficult times,” shared Azmy. “While we managed to convert several activities to an online version, our service and application teams continued to exist at all sites that we serve to extend the highest level of support to our customers.”

While the supply chain has faced challenges related to the availability of flights to move products to the Middle East, Beckman Coulter’s teams have put enormous effort to maintain the continuous supply of critical products to the hospitals and laboratories that the company serves.

Today, businesses need to demonstrate a great deal of agility to cope with the new normal. The business sector is dependent on continuous technology updates and on high-level technical service support and training. While the new normal might impose certain financial challenges, the big players in the industry have to ensure the continuity of investment in R&D and the introduction of new products and services.

Azmy highlighted: “The future of laboratory R&D technology where the use of data is a mandatory element is needed to drive next generation development. Machine learning as a part of artificial intelligence will provide the necessary computer algorithm platforms to achieve this.”

Talking about future plans, he said: “Beckman Coulter is targeting a couple of local acquisitions aiming at market appropriate go-to-market model change.”
