Knowing the susceptibility profile of the pathogen(s) responsible for the infection is key to avoid clinical failure, generation of further antimicrobial resistance, toxicity and side effects from misused antimicrobials. Robust evidence has demonstrated that a delay in the administration of appropriate antibiotics at adequate dosage is associated with poor clinical outcomes in time-dependent conditions such as sepsis and septic shock. The Accelerate Pheno™ system provides microbial identification and phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing results with MIC values in less than 7 hours, accelerating targeted, optimized and individualized antimicrobial therapy by 1-2 days. Users of the Accelerate Pheno™ system will share their experiences and perspectives on analytical performance, implementation in sepsis management initiatives and clinical value.
